📰 News we're reading

• Housing Development Takes Shape In South Windsor (patch.com) — South Windsor residents are watching a long-debated 55‑unit housing complex rise on the former Calvary Church site at Deming Street and Buckland Road, with many units reserved as affordable housing. The project includes apartments and supportive services for people with intellectual disabilities, backed by substantial state funding and long-term affordability requirements, after narrowly winning zoning approval in 2023.

• Man Charged In South Windsor Gas Station Robbery (patch.com) — South Windsor police have charged a 48-year-old East Hartford man in connection with a November robbery at the Exxon on John Fitch Boulevard, where a clerk was sprayed in the face and $825 was taken. The suspect, already in state custody on other charges, now faces multiple robbery, mischief, and assault counts after being arrested on a warrant and presented in Manchester Superior Court.

• Southington, Plainville both seeking 4-0 starts; others look to bounce back (bristolpress.com) — South Windsor football fans can take pride in the Bobcats' narrow 14-13 win that snapped Berlin's 15-game streak, highlighted in this broader Week 4 high school football preview. The roundup also spotlights other key Connecticut matchups, including undefeated Southington and Plainville, as several area teams try to stay perfect or claw back to .500.
