I-95 Work With Lane Closures Delayed By CT-DOT: Details
Work is slated for 12 towns, including several in Fairfield County. Here's when and where the first phase of construction will begin.
STAMFORD, CT — The CT Department of Transportation has delayed catch basin cleaning work on I-95 bridges in 12 towns, including several in Fairfield County.
Work was originally slated to begin on Oct. 26, but CT-DOT pushed the start date to Sunday, Nov. 1, and moved to a phased approach, CT-DOT spokesperson Eva Zymaris told Patch in an email this week.
The first phase will include I-95 bridges northbound and southbound in New Haven, West Haven, Orange, and Milford. The work will take place at night, Sunday through Thursday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., and is anticipated to be completed by mid-November.

Outside of the first phase, work is planned for Bridgeport, Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, and Westport.
"To minimize impacts to the traveling public, the work has been organized into phases to better help motorists plan and know where work will be occurring," Zymaris said.

After the first phase is finished, CT-DOT is expected to release an updated schedule for the next phase of work. Zymaris noted the schedule is weather-dependent.
The catch basin cleaning is needed to ensure proper drainage and to prevent flooding, Zymaris said.
Drivers are being reminded to slow down, avoid distractions, and remain vigilant to help keep themselves, other motorists, and workers safe.
