• 2nd Annual Culinary Carnival Coming To Stonington (patch.com) — Families in Stonington can look forward to the Second Annual Culinary Carnival at Stone Acres Farm on Oct. 18, featuring hands-on food stations, outdoor activities, and live music. Running from 2 to 6 p.m., the event highlights kid-friendly culinary exploration while still appealing to adults, with the farmstand, ice cream truck, and local food and drinks available for purchase.
   

• Stonington Selectmen approve snow (thewesterlysun.com) — Stonington's Board of Selectmen has unanimously tightened local rules on door-to-door soliciting, effectively banning most commercial canvassing on residential property and public ways while preserving exemptions for protected religious, nonprofit, and delivery activities. The same special meeting also updated snow-removal and public-safety ordinances, meaning residents and businesses should expect clearer rules this winter and fewer uninvited sales visits at home.
   

• Westerly Council Delays Short-Term Rental Vote to Workshop (upriseri.com) — Westerly councilors have postponed a decision on new short-term rental rules to a dedicated September 21 workshop and backed a state right-of-way designation for Egret Lane despite neighbors' concerns. For Stonington residents, the town manager noted an 800-unit Stonington housing development will undergo a developer-funded hydraulic study, signaling potential regional impacts on traffic, infrastructure, and shared resources.
