Stonington To Hold Public Information Meeting On Bridge Preservation Project
The meeting is intended to provide an opportunity for public participation and discussion about the proposed project.
STONINGTON, CT — Stonington officials will hold a public informational meeting next month on a planned preservation project for the Wolf Neck Road Bridge over Whitford Brook.
The in-person meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room, 152 Elm St. The meeting is intended to provide an opportunity for public participation and discussion about the proposed project.
The town said this week it is in the process of completing the design for the bridge preservation project, which will include repairs to various bridge elements, replacement of the bridge and guiderail, and reconstruction of the roadway within the project limits.

WMC Consulting Engineers, the town's hired consultant, is performing the design work and acquiring permits needed for the project.
Final design documents and permits are anticipated to be in place by the end of 2026, at which point the project will be advertised for construction.

Construction is expected to begin on or around April 1, 2027, and last approximately eight months, with a target completion date of Nov. 30, 2027.
The road is anticipated to be closed at the bridge for the duration of construction. Traffic would be detoured along Lantern Hill Road, Indiantown Road, Shewville Road and Whitford Road.
The bridge contractor will be required to maintain access to all driveways throughout construction.
