• Development of Algae-Based Food Product Earns Prestigious Award (uconn.edu) — A UConn researcher based in Storrs has landed a $500,000 Gates Foundation grant to turn brewery waste into low-cost algae-based DHA, a key nutrient for infant brain and eye development. The project, led from campus, could make this omega-3 far more affordable worldwide, especially in lower-income countries, while showcasing Storrs as a hub for sustainable food innovation.
