1. Stratford Man, 74, Sentenced In Sexual Assault Of Minor: Officials (patch.com) — Stratford residents are learning that a 74-year-old man from their town has been sentenced to five years in prison, with additional suspended time and probation, for sexually assaulting a young child in North Haven. The judge also ordered him onto the state sex offender registry, and prosecutors publicly praised the victim's courage in coming forward during the Meriden Superior Court proceedings.
   

2. Interim Economic Development Director Appointed, Staffing Changes Announced In Stratford (patch.com) — Stratford has named Mayor David Chess's chief of staff, Caryn Kaufman, as interim director of the town's Economic Development Department while officials reassess the office's long‑term structure. A consultant has been hired to keep major projects and business outreach on track, and the mayor says the goal is a stronger strategy that supports local businesses and eases property taxes.
   

3. Metro-North adds New Haven train directly to Yankee Stadium for Wild Card Series (wtnh.com) — Stratford riders can catch special one-seat Metro-North "Yankee Clipper" trains from the New Haven Line to get directly to Yankee Stadium for this week's Wild Card games. Two afternoon departures from New Haven will stop in Stratford, giving local fans an easy, car-free way to reach the evening matchups against Boston.
   

4. CT man gets $2M bond after allegedly admitting to using heroin before hitting, killing DOT worker (courant.com) — A DOT worker based out of the Stratford garage was killed while clearing debris on I-95 in Fairfield, and the driver accused in the crash is now held on a $2 million bond after allegedly admitting to recent heroin use. The case has shaken highway crews statewide and renewed calls for drivers to slow down and move over near work zones.
   

5. 8 displaced after basement fire in Stratford home, officials say (newsbreak.com) — Eight adults were displaced after a basement fire Monday evening in a single‑story home on Prayer Spring Road in Stratford, though everyone escaped safely and no injuries were reported. Fire crews quickly knocked down the blaze, and the Red Cross and town building official are assisting while the Stratford Fire Marshal investigates the cause.
