Suffield Family Rallies Around 7-Year-Old Battling Cancer

SUFFIELD, CT — A Suffield family is asking the community to rally around 7-year-old Lincoln Scott after a recent cancer diagnosis changed their lives.

Lincoln was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma and is beginning a treatment journey expected to last at least two years, according to his mother, Lauren Scott.

“Lincoln is an incredibly sweet, funny, loving little boy who loves being a kid,” Scott wrote in a message to Patch. “He loves spending time with his family, playing, dressing up and making people laugh.”

Scott said watching her son go from an active 7-year-old to spending time in a hospital bed has been heartbreaking for the family.

The family created a GoFundMe campaign to help manage the unexpected financial strain that comes with Lincoln’s diagnosis and lengthy treatment.

As of Tuesday morning, the campaign had raised approximately $5,900 toward an initial goal of $6,500. The family hopes to eventually raise at least $15,000 to help support them throughout Lincoln’s treatment.

Scott said the assistance would allow the family to focus more of its time and energy on Lincoln without constantly worrying about the financial burden ahead.

The family has also thanked those who have donated, shared the fundraiser, prayed for Lincoln or reached out with words of encouragement.

“We have learned very quickly how much a community can mean during a time like this,” Scott wrote.
