She aims to pack the stands at the city’s new athletic facilities, boost school spirit around Raiders teams, and keep growing programs like girls tennis that persevered through years without home courts.

'Will Be Greatly Missed': 17-Year Torrington Police Veteran Dies After Cancer Battle (dailyvoice.com) — Torrington is mourning retired Officer Robert ā€œRobbieā€ Simon, who served the city’s police department for 17 years in roles ranging from patrol to community policing and PAL. The department praised his impact on residents and colleagues, remembering his humor and kindness, and said funeral arrangements will be shared once finalized.

Jury Finds Prospect Man Guilty of Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment Charges (ct.gov) — A jury in Torrington Superior Court has convicted a Prospect man of reckless driving and second-degree reckless endangerment after an oil truck drove through a closed construction zone on East Albert Street and struck a flagger. Torrington police investigated the October 2025 incident, and the driver received a suspended six‑month sentence, one year of probation, and a fine.

Connecticut man charged after police seize alleged assault weapon (ctpost.com) — A Burlington resident is facing multiple firearms-related charges and is being held on a substantial bond ahead of a court appearance in Torrington Superior Court. State police say a search on Punch Brook Road led to the seizure of an alleged assault weapon, large-capacity magazine, and ammunition. Authorities have not yet released further details about the investigation.
