Booze Plus Phone Call Add Up To Traffic Stop For Scooter Operator In Vernon
A wayward scooter driver was nabbed for DUI in Vernon, police said.

VERNON, CT — A early morning drunken scooter driver who was also on the phone is facing charges in Vernon, police said.
Police Friday released details of the May 7 incident.
At 2:15 a.m. that day a Vernon man was swerving over the double yellow lines in Windsor Avenue while riding a scooter, according to an arrest report.

Police also noticed that he was using a cell phone before turning onto Terrace Drive, according to an arrest report. Police said he was pulled over and failed field sobriety tests.
The 36-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence, operating as motor vehicle while using a hand-held device, a lane violation and driving without a license.
