Primaries 2026: Who's On Vernon's Ballot, What You Need To Know

VERNON, CT — National and state elections are taking place on Nov. 3, but before that big day, the candidate slates must be finalized.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Democrats and Republicans will head to the polls for primaries, where registered members of each party will choose who will be on the November ballot.

For example, statewide, Gov. Ned Lamont is being challenged by challenger Josh Elliot for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, so every town's Democrats will be making that decision.

Other hopefuls will also be on the ballot for both parties, depending on the town.

In Vernon, candidates will be on the primary ballots on Tuesday, Aug. 11, when polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

They are:

For Democratic governor, voters will choose between:

• Ned Lamont, the party-endorsed candidate and two-term incumbent.
• Josh Elliott.

Under Connecticut primary rules, endorsed candidates are identified on the ballot with an asterisk.

Vernon voters registered as Democrats will be able to cast ballots in a Democratic primary for governor at the town’s four regular polling places.

The polling places are Northeast School, Rockville High School, Skinner Road School and Vernon Center Middle School.
