More Than $34K Stolen From Business In Fraud Scheme, 2 Charged: Wallingford Police (patch.com) — Wallingford police say more than $34,000 was stolen from a local business through forged checks taken from the mail, leading to charges against a 23-year-old East Granby man and a juvenile. After tracking the money through multiple accounts and financial apps, investigators arrested both suspects, with the juvenile already in juvenile court and the adult suspect released on bond ahead of an October court date.
   

2. Hamden Woman Charged In Hotel Fraud Scheme In Wallingford: Police (patch.com) — Wallingford police report that two people are accused of using stolen credit card information to pay for an extended hotel stay in town, triggering a lengthy fraud and identity theft investigation. A Hamden woman and a Bridgeport man now face a long list of larceny, identity theft, and credit card fraud charges, with both released on bond ahead of October court dates.
   

3. Five CT companies pay $9.2M to settle PPP fraud claims (hartfordbusiness.com subscription) — A Wallingford-based long-term care pharmacy is among several Connecticut businesses paying settlements over alleged misuse or ineligibility of federal Paycheck Protection Program loans. Federal prosecutors say the pharmacies used most of nearly $1.7 million in PPP funds to repay other company debts instead of payroll, as part of broader False Claims Act cases involving manufacturers and nonprofits statewide.
   

4. Trumbull High School Ranked Among Top 100 In New Analysis (patch.com) — Families in Wallingford can take pride that Choate Rosemary Hall is ranked fifth among private high schools nationwide in Niche's latest analysis, highlighting the town's access to elite education.
