Celebrate Sustainability At Special West Hartford Event

West Hartford's Sustainability Fair returns Oct. 11 with e-bike rides, electric vehicles, a solar tour and other green-living exhibits.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Residents interested in electric vehicles, solar energy, composting, and other ways to reduce their environmental impact can learn more during the 2026 West Hartford Sustainability Fair.

The Sustainable West Hartford Commission, Sierra Club CT, and Simsbury-based People's Action for Clean Energy will host the event Sunday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the rear area of the West Hartford Town Hall parking lot, 50 S. Main St., adjacent to the Sunday farmers market.

Organizers said the fair will showcase ways families, businesses, and the broader community can reduce their climate impacts, save money, and restore nature.

Activities and exhibits will include:

  • E-bike test rides.
  • A guided tour of the Town Hall rooftop solar array.
  • Energize CT's Energy in Action interactive exhibit.
  • Demonstrations on using the town's food scrap drop-off bins.
  • Electric vehicles and electric lawn care equipment.
  • Information from experts on pollinators and sustainable lawn care.
  • Local environmental organizations.

“The Town of West Hartford is grateful to its many dedicated volunteers who organize wonderful, educational events like the West Hartford Sustainability Fair for our residents and who are committed to building a greener future for our community,” said Catherine Diviney, the town's energy specialist.

Samantha Dynowski, state director of the Sierra Club's Connecticut Chapter, said the event allows residents to learn from neighbors and town officials about sustainability measures they have adopted.

“Anyone curious about electric vehicles, e-bikes, native plants, composting, and how to live greener should come and find out more,” Dynowski said.
