Over the past 14 years, he has developed a following for brightly colored works that draw on family photographs.

He is selective about the images he paints and closely edits each composition before beginning work, according to organizers.

Straus has held five solo exhibitions and participated in collaborative shows across Connecticut.

His artwork also appears on greeting cards sold at Good Cause Gifts locations in West Hartford and Berlin.

Organizers said Straus, who has intellectual and motoric special needs, “hopes guests will visit the exhibit and leave with a smile and refreshed sense of hope.”

The Noah Webster House interprets the life and accomplishments of Noah Webster and operates his 1747 boyhood home, a National Historic Landmark, on South Main Street.

The West Hartford Historical Society maintains archives and artifacts documenting three centuries of town history.

The museum and exhibit spaces are open Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information is available at noahwebsterhouse.org or by calling 860-521-5362.
