West Hartford Council OKs Cash For Library Computers, Furniture And Programs (patch.com) — West Hartford residents can expect upgraded library furniture, equipment, and programs after the Town Council unanimously approved more than $30,000 from the West Hartford Library Fund. The money, allocated for the 2026-27 fiscal year, will support new computers, furnishings, administrative needs, and professional services such as program performers across the town's library system.

Fast Start by Glastonbury Sinks Hall Field Hockey in Top-10 Matchup - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — West Hartford's Hall High School field hockey team fell 3-1 to Glastonbury in a top-10 matchup played at Conard while Hall's stadium turf is being replaced. Despite the loss, the Titans showed improvement, generated strong chances, and will look to rebound in upcoming games against Longmeadow and Enfield as they work to regain their early-season scoring touch.

West Hartford Fire Department Promoting Its Free Home Safety Visits During Falls Prevention Awareness Week - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — West Hartford residents can schedule free home safety visits from the Fire Department, which include fall-prevention tips and fire safety checks tailored to your home. Timed with Falls Prevention Awareness Week later this month, the program is available year-round to any resident who wants a friendly walkthrough and practical suggestions to stay safer and more confident at home.
   

4. West Hartford Police Officer Honored By Prominent Local Nonprofit (patch.com) — A West Hartford police officer has been honored for building trust and relationships with local families, earning the Bridge Family Center's annual "Build No Fences Award." The West Hartford-based nonprofit highlighted Officer Lauren Rieger's impact on children and families across Greater Hartford, underscoring ongoing collaboration between police and community services.
   

5. CT leaders combat increasing hostility, threats toward elected officials. One had to be locked down in office (courant.com) — West Hartford will host the Greater Hartford Civility Summit on Sept. 16, bringing officials from across Connecticut together to address rising hostility and threats toward local leaders. Town staff note that West Hartford board of education members have already received racist and sexist emails, and hope the summit sparks concrete ideas to improve safety, civility, and empathy in public life.
