West Hartford Weekend Guide: 'The Happiest Man On Earth,' A Sunday Chamber Concert And A Fall Farmers Market
Playhouse on Park stages 'The Happiest Man on Earth,' the New World Trio plays Sunday, and the farmers market returns.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford's Columbus Day weekend runs from a moving one-man play at Playhouse on Park to a Sunday of chamber music, fresh produce and a sustainability fair in the Town Hall parking lot, from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 11.

- "The Happiest Man on Earth" — Friday, Oct. 9, 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 10, 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 11, 2 p.m. Mark St. Germain's one-man play, adapted from Eddie Jaku's memoir, follows the Holocaust survivor from Auschwitz to finding hope; tickets are $35 plus a $3.50 service charge, and the run ends Oct. 18. - West Hartford Sustainability Fair — Sunday, Oct. 11, starting at 10 a.m. Exhibits and demonstrations cover electric vehicles, bikes and scooters, solar power, heat pumps, composting and native pollinator gardens, with activities for kids; Sierra Club CT, the Sustainable West Hartford Commission and PACE co-host. Town Hall parking lot, 50 South Main Street
- New World Trio: "Autumn Reflections" — Sunday, Oct. 11, 2 p.m. Violinist Anhared Stowe, violist Michael Wheeler, cellist Peter Zay and pianist David Ballena play Schubert's Notturno, Stephen Michael Gryc's "Dances and Nocturnes" and Brahms' Trio No. 1; the suggested donation is $25.
