• Frosolone Honored As West Haven's 2026 Italian American Of The Year (patch.com) — West Haven residents packed the steps of City Hall as Mayor Dorinda Borer and the Italian Heritage Committee named longtime volunteer and civic leader Paul M. Frosolone the city's 2026 Italian American of the Year. The ceremony highlighted his decades of service to West Haven organizations, his leadership of the Italian American Civic Association, and his message urging neighbors to give back to the community he calls "a great community."

• West Haven Schools Awarded State Grant Aimed At Boosting Student Attendance (patch.com) — West Haven public schools are getting a $200,000 state grant to fund home visits aimed at improving student attendance and engagement across the district. The money comes through Connecticut's LEAP program, which has helped cut chronic absenteeism statewide. Trained staff will work directly with West Haven families to identify barriers to attendance and connect them with needed resources.

• Woman rescued from burning West Haven home, 2 seriously injured (nbcconnecticut.com) — Early Saturday morning, firefighters rescued an unconscious elderly woman from a burning home on Malcolm Road in West Haven, while an elderly man escaped outside with smoke inhalation. Both residents were rushed to area hospitals with serious to critical injuries, one to Bridgeport Hospital's burn center and the other to Yale New Haven Hospital. Officials say the intense fire heavily damaged the home and remains under investigation.
