West Haven's Borer Elected By Regional Mayors To Lead South Central Regional Council Of Governments
West Haven Mayor Dorinda Borer has been elected as the new chair of the South Central Regional Council of Governments.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Dorinda Borer has been elected as the new chair of the South Central Regional Council of Governments.
Borer was officially nominated for the leadership post by North Haven First Selectman Michael J. Freda and Guilford First Selectman Matthew Hoey, receiving unanimous support from the 15 regional mayors and first selectmen of the municipalities in the Greater New Haven region.
Borer, who recently began her second term as West Haven’s mayor, brings extensive regional experience to the role. She previously served as the chair of SCRCOG’s Executive Committee and was a dedicated member of its Transportation Committee.

Borer’s tenure has been marked by a focus on infrastructure modernization, including securing significant state funding for traffic safety and advocating for regional economic development.
“I’m honored to lead SCRCOG as we work together to address the critical needs of our 15 communities,” Borer said. “I’m so proud of the bipartisan work the mayors and first selectmen collectively perform in the region. From enhancing our transportation networks to driving sustainable regional growth, each executive brings the knowledge and experience to ensure a thriving future for all residents in the south-central region.”

Borer succeeds Madison First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons, who previously served as SCRCOG’s chair.
The council serves as a primary forum for regional communication and planning for municipalities ranging from Milford to Madison to Meriden.
SCRCOG is a regional planning organization composed of 15 municipalities: Bethany, Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge.
