UU Westport: Children and Youth Service

Event Details

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport, 10 Lyons Plain Rd, Westport, CT, 06880

This Sunday, we gather as a community that spans generations — from the curious children who remind us why big questions matter, to the youth who push us to live our values with greater courage, to the families who show up (even a little late — you’re always welcome), to the dedicated volunteers who give their time and hearts week after week.

And this week, we celebrate four beloved members of our community: these seniors grew up among us, shaped by this congregation, and are now ready to carry their light into the world. Join us as we honor their journey and send them forward with love.

Finally, and with great excitement, we are pleased to have our next minister, the Reverend Terri Dennehy, join us and participate in the service, even as she finishes her 5-years' service with her uplifting UU congregation in Stamford.  We are so grateful she is able to celebrate our children and youth with us and join us for a bit afterwards: so many of us are eager to meet her!

All are always welcome to our Unitarian Universalist services at UU Westport, offered each Sunday at 10 AM, both in person and live-streamed online. Services usually include a time of reflection/prayer/meditation; wonderful music; readings; and a homily or sermon to lend insight into our world and how we interact with it and with each other. The Rev. Carlton E. Smith presides over our time together that includes participation from multiple congregants, guests, and friends. Music Director Micah Krajca leads our choirs. Separate children's programming and nursery care is available during the service, 10-11:15AM. Dress code is as you feel comfortable.

As always, our e-newsletter SOUNDINGS has all the information one needs to find out what's going on in our congregation. Contact the office at 203.227.7205 x 10 if you have specific questions.

UU Westport is a diverse and welcoming religious community, free of creed and dogma, and open to people of all backgrounds and beliefs. We welcome all who are in search of a non-judgmental, loving, safe community to come together to explore what it means to be human and alive in today's world, and how we can best serve one another and those around us, near and far.

Our services take place in UU Westport's iconic sanctuary building, a glorious architectural masterpiece of mid-century modernist Victor Lundy (1923-2024). The building has just undergone a major renovation and is spectacular with its soaring rooflines, sparkling glass walls, set in the woods with the beauty of nature all around it.
