A traffic advisory has been issued for the popular event.

WESTPORT, CT — The annual Slice of Saugatuck Festival, hosted by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, returning for its 14th year.

The festival will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

It features "Saugatuck's finest restaurants, shops and galleries opening their doors and inviting the community to come and sample their offerings," according to organizers.

Railroad Place will be closed to vehicle traffic from Riverside Avenue to Franklin Street from noon to 6 p.m. for the event, to allow vendors to set up and break down booths and exhibitions.

The east side of Riverside Avenue from Charles Street to Bridge Street will be designated a temporary no-parking zone during the event.

All other roads will remain open to vehicles, but motorists should expect heavy pedestrian traffic around the Saugatuck Railroad Station, including lower Riverside Avenue and Saugatuck Avenue.

"There is so much to do for the whole family," organizers wrote. "Listen to 7 bands and stroll along the boardwalk at the plaza overlooking the river or get grooving alongside the dance demonstrations. Bring the kids and check out the Fire Department's antique fire engine, the fire safety trailer and jump in 4 different bouncy houses, Balloon Bender and Face Painter and fire pits with s'mores. There are also beer/wine gardens."

People attending the festival are asked to use marked crosswalks when crossing roads. Officers will be stationed in the area to assist with traffic control.

The Saugatuck Railroad Station lots, except for Lot 2, will be available for festival parking.

Motorists traveling to the railroad station or nearby destinations should allow extra time because traffic delays are expected.
