Learn Lifesaving Skills With EMT Training Program

Those interested in gaining lifesaving skills and preparing for a career in emergency medical services can enroll in an Emergency Medical Technician Training program offered through a partnership between the University of Bridgeport and Hartford HealthCare.

The program runs Sept. 9 through Dec. 9, with classes held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. at Eleanor N. Dana Hall, Room 1, on the University of Bridgeport campus.

Registration is now open.

Open to the public and all University of Bridgeport students, regardless of major, the program provides real-world training in patient assessment, lifesaving interventions, trauma and medical emergency response, and prioritizing care for patients who are most at risk.

The $1,050 course prepares participants to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exam. Successful completion of the NREMT exam is required to become a certified EMT in Connecticut.

Course fees do not include a blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, national exam fees or textbooks. Textbooks must be purchased through Hartford HealthCare before the first day of class.
