WESTPORT, CT — Eight students have been named Staples High School Students of the Month for October, Principal Stafford Thomas Jr. announced.

"The Student of the Month award program recognizes students who help make Staples High School a welcoming place for their peers and teachers alike," Thomas said in a statement. October's Students of the Month are:

• Sofia Mutescu – Grade 9
• Siddhanth Kumar – Grade 10
• Chase Landgraf – Grade 10
• Anna Setten – Grade 10
• Grant Theisinger – Grade 11
• Elle Worobec – Grade 11
• Jace Darby – Grade 12
• Shea Root – Grade 12

According to Thomas, award recipients are nominated by their teachers to recognize students "who always work hard, are friendly to the staff and to fellow students, and make positive contributions in class, as well as in the Staples community."

"These students are exemplary members of the school, and make Staples High School a genial place in which to learn and teach," Thomas said.
