Westport Seeks Donations For Summer Camp, Graduation Support For Children In Need

Officials said donations will help income-eligible Westport families pay for summer camp and student milestone celebrations.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Human Services is asking the community to help fund summer camp and milestone celebrations for local children in need. The department said its Camperships and Ceremonies & Celebrations programs provide support to income-eligible families in town.

Youth & Family Program Specialist Annette D’Augelli coordinates the two programs through the department. In a statement, D’Augelli said the need is tied in part to the cost of summer care for working families.

"With rising economic pressures, affordable summer childcare is essential," D’Augelli said. "Camp offers children a safe, enriching environment while allowing parents to continue working."

"Summer experiences build confidence and connection, while celebrating milestones as a family fosters pride and belonging," said Human Services Director Elaine Daignault. "Both are essential to a child’s healthy development, and we are deeply grateful to the community donors who make these programs possible."

All donations directly benefit Westport children and families in need. The department said every contribution supports opportunity, stability and important moments for local families.
