Westport Sets Nov. 30 Deadline For Curbside Leaf Collection

Leaves must be in biodegradable paper bags near a town street to guarantee pickup. Plastic bags will not be collected.

Westport's Department of Public Works has begun its annual curbside leaf collection, according to the Town of Westport. To guarantee pickup, residents must place leaves in biodegradable paper bags safely near the curb of a town street by Monday, Nov. 30.

Residents living on private streets must place their bagged leaves behind the curb of an intersecting town roadway. Leaves in plastic bags will not be collected because plastic bags contaminate the composting process.

Public Works crews will pick up bagged leaves as their schedules allow, and residents do not need to call the office to arrange collection. Residents with questions can contact the Department of Public Works office at 203-341-1120.
