Woman Accused Of Assault In Westport: Police

WESTPORT, CT — A 38-year-old Waterbury woman was arrested this week by Westport police on a warrant in connection with an alleged 2023 assault at the Saint Vincent’s Behavioral Health Services facility on Long Lots Road, according to authorities.

Shalaya Gaddy was arrested Tuesday at Middletown Superior Court, where she was appearing on an unrelated matter, and was charged with second-degree assault.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on July 1, 2023.

"It was reported that Shalaya Gaddy had assaulted a victim with seemingly no provocation," wrote Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso in a statement. "This assault consisted of repeated strikes to the head using both fists and knees. This attack reportedly continued after the victim was rendered unconscious. The victim suffered a head injury and was transported to the hospital for treatment."

Westport police obtained a warrant for Gaddy's arrest, which led to her being taken into custody on Tuesday.

She was held in lieu of bail of $75,000, and was scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
