The Connecticut Symphony Orchestra will conclude its season on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Community Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT.
The program will again feature the CSO brass section and include Sonata pian’e forte by Gabrieli, Conga del Fuego Nuevo by Marquez, Themes from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by Williams, and Karelia Suite, Op.11 by Jean Sibelius.The program will conclude with The Firebird Suite (1919), a reorchestration of the work that “catapulted the young Stravinsky to international fame.”

Wethersfield Historical Society celebrates America250 with a new program series exploring the history of the American Revolution. All of the programs in this series are held in the ballroom of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT). Admission is free to current members of the society and $10 per program for non-members.In the fifth installment of the American Revolution Program Series,&nbsp;Morgan Bengel, curator and site administrator of Old New-Gate Prison&nbsp;&amp; Copper Mine, delivers a lecture entitled The Catacomb of Loyalty:&nbsp;A Deep Dive into New-Gate’s Role in the Revolution. This lecture&nbsp;explores how loyalists and POWs were treated here in Connecticut during the Revolution.

Sample the metaphysical world at the Astrological Society of Connecticut’s popular fair. Readings are 20 minutes for $25 (cash, checks, credit cards). Types include astrology, tarot and other cards, intuitive, medium, psychic and more. Vendors sell a wide array of wares, such as crystals, books, CDs, jewelry, gifts and items for health and well-being. Wellness practitioners offer massage, Reiki, sound healing and more. 
Free presentations cover a broad spectrum of the metaphysical world. A Basics of Astrology class costs $10 and includes a printed birth chart and $5 off an astrology reading at a fair. (A birth time is helpful.) Additional free presentations: Messages from Mother Earth with Gayle Nogas (11:00 AM); Healing &amp; Meditating with Stones with Noreen C. Reilly (12:00 PM); The Story of Mary Magdalene Hidden in the Tarot with Merina Corby, PhD (2:00 PM); and The Benefits of Meditation with Bob Vinci (3:00 PM).

designed especially for solo agers who are curious about holistic 
approaches to wellness, connection, and self-care.

In this small-group experience, Solo Agers are invited to explore the
 healing practice of Reiki and its potential to support relaxation, 
emotional balance, and overall well-being. As we age and navigate life 
independently, many of us experience a lack of positive, nurturing 
touch. s event offers a safe, respectful space to learn about gentle,
 intentional healing practices that support both mind and body.
What to Expect

Creative Writing and Memoir Writing Workshop Series Two creative writing workshops are offered this summer. The first will be for open forms and begin on July 6th. The second will focus on memoir writing and will start on July&nbsp;8th. They will both meet at Saint James Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue&nbsp; in West Hartford.&nbsp; The&nbsp;dates for open&nbsp;forms are: 7/6. 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, and 8/10. These are all Mondays. The dates for the memoir workshops are: 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5, and 8/12. These are&nbsp; Wednesdays. They will both meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.. The cost is $240.00, and payment is for the series. Sign ups&nbsp;are on a first come first served basis. Registration is required.&nbsp; Writing instructor David Pontrelli is a&nbsp;&nbsp;graduate of Wesleyan University, a certified Connecticut English teacher, and a certified Amherst&nbsp;Writers&nbsp;and Artists&nbsp;workshop&nbsp;leader. HIs participants represent a wide range of ages and abilities, from inner-city children to adult professional&nbsp;writers. The&nbsp;workshops&nbsp;he leads&nbsp;stress participant safety and create an enhanced sense of community. He&nbsp;has been a featured reader at Art Works Gallery, the Hope Out Loud Peace and Arts Festival, and Word House.
