Suspect Attacks Wethersfield Gas Station Cashier, Police Investigating

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Police are searching for a man accused of robbing a Wethersfield gas station Wednesday night after ripping a gold chain from a cashier's neck and fleeing, authorities said.

Wethersfield police responded at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, to the Valero gas station at 930 Silas Deane Highway for a reported robbery.

The cashier told police a man entered the store and appeared to want to buy something at the counter.

Police described the suspect as a Black male, about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall, wearing a ski mask, black Adidas sweatshirt, and colored gloves.

Police said the man then ripped a gold chain necklace from the cashier's neck and fled.

Officers searched the surrounding area, and a K-9 team from the Middletown Police Department assisted in an effort to track the suspect.

The search was unsuccessful, according to police.

No injuries were reported.
