Wethersfield Weekend Guide: Old Wethersfield Lantern Light Tours And A Contra Dance

The 17th Old Wethersfield Lantern Light Tours run Friday through Sunday, and Hartford Community Dance holds a contra dance Saturday.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Old Wethersfield comes alive after dark this Columbus Day weekend, from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 11, with Revolutionary-era characters leading lantern tours through the historic district and a Saturday night contra dance on Main Street.

This Weekend's Arts & Entertainment

  • 17th Annual Old Wethersfield Lantern Light Tours — Friday through Sunday, Oct. 9-11, departures every 15 minutes from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Historical characters from the Revolutionary War era guide the 70-minute tour through the Hurlbut-Dunham House, First Church and the Ancient Burying Ground; tickets are $30, groups are limited to 21 and the tour is not recommended for children under 13.   • Second-Saturday Contra Dance — Saturday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m. Liz Nelson calls to music by Confluence, with a free beginner lesson from 7:15 to 7:30 p.m.; admission is $15, or $5 for students. Hartford Community Dance, Temple Beth Torah, 130 Main Street
