📰 News we're reading
• I-291 Westbound Returns To Two Lanes (patch.com) — Drivers in Windsor and South Windsor will soon see relief on I-291 westbound, as the Bissell Bridge is returning to two travel lanes between Exit 2 and Exit 1D. The Connecticut Department of Transportation says this restored configuration, part of a multi-year rehabilitation project, should remain in place through spring 2027, though weather or construction issues could still cause adjustments.

• How opposition to Flock cameras took flight in CT (ctmirror.org) — Windsor residents are at the center of Connecticut's growing backlash against Flock automated license plate cameras, after a local FOI request exposed out-of-state searches tied to an abortion investigation. That discovery spurred Windsor officials to tighten data access, then ultimately shut the system down, influencing South Windsor and other towns now rethinking how much AI-powered surveillance they want on local roads.

• Spooky Day Trips in Connecticut: Witchy History for Halloween (mommypoppins.com) — Windsor plays a starring role in this Halloween road trip, with the Town Green memorial to Alse Young and historic Palisado Cemetery offering some of Connecticut's oldest, spookiest history. The guide maps a full day of family-friendly witch-trial and ghost-themed stops from Wethersfield and Hartford up through Windsor and beyond, perfect for planning a local October outing.
