New Water Lines Coming To East Windsor

A $4 million project will bring public water to 31 homes with contaminated wells and the Park Hill housing complex.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — Construction on a water line extension designed to bring public water to parts of Broad Brook is scheduled to begin Aug. 17, First Selectman Jason Bowsza said this week.

The work is expected to take several months and will serve the Park Hill neighborhood, Helena Drive, Elaine Drive and portions of Windsorville Road and Old Ellington Road.

State project records call for about 5,570 feet of new water line, including a 12-inch main on Windsorville Road and 8-inch mains on Old Ellington Road, Helena Drive, Elaine Drive and Park Hill Road.

The project will provide individual public-water connections to 31 homes with contaminated wells, according to state records. It will also connect the East Windsor Housing Authority's 84-unit Park Hill complex to public water and allow for new fire hydrants there.

Bowsza said residents may have noticed pipe being stockpiled in Broad Brook as the town prepares for construction. The town is working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Department of Transportation on the project.
