Local Target Surprises Columbia Heights Educators with Teacher Appreciation Week Donation
Multicultural Career Intern Program Receives Classroom Essentials and Teacher "Must-haves"
This week, educators from Lincoln Middle School's nonprofit partner, the Multicultural Career Intern Program, received a surprise Teacher Appreciation Week donation from Target. In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, which runs May 3-9, the local Columbia Heights Target team personally shopped their own store aisles to curate an appreciation package for the Multicultural Career Intern Program.
Target store teams in select cities across the country, including DC, are supporting local schools of their choice with special donations this week. The surprise donation took place in the Lincoln Middle School library and is part of Target’s broader commitment to strengthening communities and creating growth and opportunity for all. Teachers received classroom essentials and teacher “must-haves”, from dry-erase markers and disinfecting wipes to treats, an ice machine, and a popcorn maker.
Target is also providing ways for all local teachers to save, including a 10% Teacher Discount this week and year-round benefits. From May 3-9, verified teachers in the free Target Circle loyalty program can take 10% off one storewide purchase, covering everything from classroom supplies to summer essentials. All year, verified teachers can also access over 50% off an annual Target Circle 360 membership, which offers free same-day delivery and fast shipping to help them manage their busy schedules.
