• Man arrested on drug charges in Arcadia after attempting to run, deputies say (abc-7.com) — DeSoto County deputies recently arrested a man in Arcadia on multiple drug-related charges after he briefly tried to flee behind an Advance Auto Parts store. Deputies say they recovered suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia before taking him into custody without violence.
   

• Florida couple rescued after boat drifts away during scuba dive (divemagazine.com) — Two Arcadia residents, Tony Rivera and Brianna Rutledge, survived more than six hours in the Gulf after their boat drifted away during a dive off Boca Grande. Battling rough conditions and darkness, they clung to a crab-trap buoy until Charlotte County rescuers spotted Rivera’s SOS light and brought them safely to shore. Rivera now urges local divers to always carry lights and safety gear.
