• Johnson Whitaker Cauthen (leesburg-news.com) — Bokeelia residents are mourning longtime Pine Island entrepreneur and art supporter Johnson Whitaker Cauthen, 79, who passed away at his Bokeelia home on March 26. A Vietnam veteran and founder of influential environmental and nursery businesses, he later owned the Crossed Palms Gallery in Bokeelia and remained deeply involved in Southwest Florida’s cultural and ecological communities.
