Bradenton Man Killed While Crossing US 41, Troopers Say

A pickup truck struck the pedestrian Friday night near 60th Avenue West, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A 64-year-old Bradenton man died after being struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross U.S. 41 in Manatee County on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on U.S. 41, also known as 14th Street West, near 60th Avenue West, shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Troopers said a 49-year-old Palmetto man was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 north in the inside lane of U.S. 41, approaching the intersection with a steady green traffic signal.

The pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes on the south side of the intersection when the front of the pickup truck struck him, according to FHP.

The Bradenton man suffered critical injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

The pickup truck driver was not injured.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved or said whether charges are expected.

The crash remains under investigation.
