Man Drowns Off Anna Maria Island, Manatee County Sheriff Says (patch.com) — A man drowned Friday afternoon near Passage Key off Anna Maria Island after a strong tide and large wave pulled him underwater while swimming near an anchored boat. First responders brought him to shore at Galati Yacht Sales and then to Blake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are urging Bradenton-area boaters and beachgoers to be especially cautious around fast-changing tides, strong currents and sandbars.
   

2. Rodent droppings temporarily close popular downtown Sarasota restaurant (heraldtribune.com) — Bradenton diners can now see which local restaurants and food trucks earned clean health inspections and which, like Sonny's BBQ and Atria Cafe, drew high-priority violations last week. The state's database lets you search Manatee County spots by name, see temporary closures, and understand what different violation terms actually mean before choosing where to eat out.
   

3. Sarasota's Key Chorale finds new ways to tell stories in music (heraldtribune.com) — Key Chorale is bringing its candlelit "Radiance 2.0, Bradenton" choral concert to Christ Episcopal Church on Manatee Avenue West this November, giving Bradenton residents a chance to experience an immersive, story-driven music program. The season preview also highlights the group's growing educational and senior outreach work and several Sarasota and Venice performances that local arts lovers may want to attend.
   

4. Video: Fla. deputies call in back-up after responding to find 8-foot alligator (police1.com) — Manatee County deputies recently wrangled an unexpectedly large 8-foot, 4-inch alligator from a homeowner's backyard after first guessing it was nearly half that size. Working with a state wildlife trapper, they safely captured and relocated the reptile, a reminder for Bradenton-area residents that even routine backyard visits can involve serious wildlife encounters.
   

5. Watch: Fla. Police, Civilian Boater Save Man During Nighttime River Rescue (officer.com) — Local officers and a Good Samaritan boater teamed up at night to pull a man from a nearby river after tracking his calls for help, with Manatee County's aviation unit guiding the search. The man eventually climbed aboard the civilian's boat and was taken for medical evaluation, and police publicly thanked the resident whose quick help made the rescue possible.
