Hadden Speaks Small Business at Chamber Breakfast (hernandosun.com) — Brooksville business owners recently gathered at Southern Hills Plantation Club for the Greater Hernando Chamber’s May breakfast, where USF’s Small Business Development Center highlighted millions in capital and contracts flowing to local firms. The SBDC also announced a July 10 “Artificial Intelligence for Marketing” workshop and the chamber welcomed a slate of new Hernando-area businesses and celebrated a Leadership Hernando beautification project.

2. Real Human Skull Discovered at Thrift Store (wideopencountry.com) — Investigators are trying to track down whoever unknowingly donated a real human skull to the Jericho Ministries Thrift Store in Brooksville, after staff realized the head wasn’t a Halloween prop. Hernando County deputies say no crime is suspected but want to confirm the donor understood it was genuine and learn whether it’s a wartime relic, medical specimen, or something else entirely.

3. VIDEO: Brooksville woman kicks, spits on deputies during disorderly intoxication arrest, deputies say (wfla.com) — Hernando deputies say a woman was arrested in Brooksville after allegedly causing disturbances at a gas station and nearby mobile home park, then resisting efforts to place her in a patrol car. Video shows her spitting on a deputy, who responded with a palm strike; she now faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly intoxication while the deputy’s actions are under review.

4. Michael J. Fechter, 75, of West Bend, Wi (washingtoncountyinsider.com) — Family and friends are remembering Michael J. Fechter, who passed away June 7 at Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville while wintering in Florida. The longtime Wisconsin welder, outdoorsman, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather spent recent years enjoying community life in the Spring Hill area before his family announced plans for an August funeral service in West Bend, Wisconsin.
