2. This Florida pool has caves and waterfalls carved from actual coral rock (wheninyourstate.com) — Right in Coral Gables, the historic Venetian Pool has reopened after major restoration, showcasing its coral rock caves, waterfalls, and Mediterranean-style towers. Fed by an underground aquifer and protected on the National Register of Historic Places, the pool now blends nearly a century of history with refreshed infrastructure. Families can again enjoy its shallow areas, deep sections, and shaded walkways.
3. Behind-the-wheel brawl between women in Coral Gables leads to crash into tree, arrest, cops say (local10.com) — A late-night fight between two women driving through Coral Gables ended with their car hitting a tree on Segovia Street and one woman facing an aggravated battery charge. Police say the passenger grabbed the steering wheel during the brawl, sending the vehicle off the road and injuring the driver, who was treated at a local hospital. The suspect was jailed as officers noted signs of alcohol use.
4. Two Former Cuban American Journalists Fight for Miami's Vote in the Midterms: María Elvira Salazar vs. Eliott Rodríguez (latintimes.com) — Voters in Coral Gables are part of a closely watched congressional showdown between Republican incumbent María Elvira Salazar and Democratic challenger Eliott Rodríguez, both longtime Cuban American TV journalists. The race will test shifting Hispanic political loyalties around immigration, affordability, and ties to Donald Trump in Florida's 27th District, which includes Coral Gables and much of Miami's urban core.
5. Interfaith minister remembers 2 of 7 helicopter crash victims who died in Kenya (local10.com) — In Coral Gables, an interfaith minister is remembering two local men he married at the Biltmore Hotel who were among seven people killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya. Several victims had deep ties to Coral Gables, including a real estate executive, a museum board member, a tech co-founder, and a TV executive who grew up in the city. The Kenyan conservancy involved praised the pilot's long service and conservation work.
