• Englewood fire crews extinguish garage fire that damaged home Wednesday night (gulfcoastnewsnow.com) — Englewood fire crews quickly put out a garage fire at a home on Michigan Avenue in Grove City Wednesday night, preventing injuries to the family and their pets. The blaze, ruled an accidental electrical fire, caused heavy damage to the garage but spared the occupants, including two adults, a child, a cat, and a dog, who all escaped safely. 
• Details emerge in officer-involved shootings (yoursun.com) — Deputies fatally shot a man outside his Barker Avenue home in Englewood East after a reported domestic disturbance involving multiple firearms, according to newly released body-camera and doorbell footage. The sheriff also detailed a separate Port Charlotte manhunt where an armed homicide suspect was killed after confronting officers. Both incidents remain under investigation by Charlotte County’s Major Crimes Unit for review by the State Attorney’s Office.
