• FEMA announces additional $90 million for Florida hurricane recovery projects (winknews.com) — Fort Myers Beach is set to receive more than $678,000 from FEMA to repair and replace public park equipment damaged by Hurricane Ian, part of a new $90 million package for Florida recovery projects. Other communities are getting funds for dunes, utilities, and traffic signals, but this award directly supports the town’s recreational spaces. The money comes through FEMA’s Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation programs.

• Firefighters extract man who fell while working on barge (dailydispatch.com) — Fort Myers Beach firefighters helped rescue a worker who fell about 10 feet inside a barge near San Carlos Island, using specialized confined-space and technical rescue skills. Multiple area fire districts teamed up, and a drone provided real-time overhead views to guide the operation. The man was lifted out in about 45 minutes and taken to a trauma center for treatment.
