• A Bluesy Live Music Series Comes to Gulfport's Hickman Theater (thegabber.com) — Gulfport residents can look forward to a new blues-heavy concert series at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater starting Sept. 25, featuring national acts and local openers at mostly $25 tickets. Organized by Gulfport resident and music promoter Vinny Marini, the lineup runs through June 2027 and aims to fill the blues void in South Pinellas while keeping shows intimate and affordable.
   

• Florida Man Laughs While Pleading Guilty to Torturing, Dismembering and Decapitating Teen He Lured In On Grindr (people.com subscription) — A man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of 16-year-old Miranda Corsette, who was reported missing to the Gulfport Police Department after meeting him through a dating app. Prosecutors say she was tortured and killed in St. Petersburg, her remains discarded in a dumpster, and her family is now suing the app's operator while the court prepares for a penalty phase that could bring a death sentence.
