Homestead men nabbed in child sex trafficking sting ahead of World Cup, police say (local10.com) — Homestead police say two local men were arrested at a Homestead hotel after allegedly arranging online to pay for sex with what they believed were underage girls in an undercover sting tied to upcoming World Cup matches. Multiple agencies posed as a mother trafficking her daughters, and both men now face several felony human trafficking charges and are being held without bond.
   

2. Mother of 5-year-old killed in Florida City shooting arrested on unrelated warrant (nbcmiami.com) — A 5-year-old girl shot at a Florida City home was rushed first to Homestead Baptist Hospital, then airlifted to Kendall, where she died, and investigators are still trying to determine how the shooting happened. Her mother, who was at the scene, was later arrested on an unrelated disorderly conduct warrant and appeared in court as detectives continue examining whether the child or someone else fired the gun.
   

3. Florida banker bribed to open fake accounts, issue 150 debit cards for cartel cash (washingtontimes.com) — A Homestead man who worked as a TD Bank retail banker has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for taking bribes and helping launder more than $5.5 million in cartel-linked cash to Colombia. Prosecutors say he opened fraudulent accounts and issued over 150 debit cards that were used for thousands of ATM withdrawals overseas, and he’ll also serve three years of supervised release.
   

4. George Russell eyes NASCAR run after meeting 2023 Cup champion Ryan Blaney (motorsport.com) — Homestead gets a fun cameo as Formula 1 driver George Russell and NASCAR champion Ryan Blaney team up for a farm-day video at chef Jeremy Ford’s Ford’s Farm. Between tractor driving and egg collecting, Russell talks seriously about wanting to try NASCAR, while both drivers compare the technical challenges of their racing worlds.
