After years of sporadic enforcement, a recent crackdown spurred a packed public meeting where no one defended the old rule, prompting the council to order a repeal ordinance for a June 22 vote.
   

• Huge property tax overhaul measure set for Nov. ballot (veronews.com) — Indian River Shores leaders generally support a sweeping November property tax referendum that could boost homestead exemptions and slightly trim the town’s future revenues.
