1. 10 local educators receive Teacher of Merit Awards (keysnews.com) — Key West High School teachers just received $66,000 in Teachers of Merit and classroom enhancement awards, underscoring strong community support for local education. Funded through the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, these long-running awards continue the legacy of David Wolkowsky and the Bryant family in recognizing and retaining outstanding educators who shape Key West’s future.
   

2. July 11 is Key West Day at Miami Marlins (keysnews.com) — Key West residents are being offered discounted tickets and a chance to support the local Police Athletic League at “Key West Day” during the Miami Marlins game on July 11. The city partnered with the team and Florida Keys Media to showcase Key West-themed music and combine the celebration with a belated Fourth of July tribute to the nation’s 250th birthday.
   

3. Study: Hotel supply shortage causing ‘tourism leak' (asianhospitality.com) — Key West’s limited hotel supply—about 110 properties for more than 500,000 annual visitors—may be causing a “tourism leak” that sends overnight stays and spending elsewhere. A new study warns this imbalance can push prices up, shorten visits, and reduce the economic benefits locals see from the island’s strong visitor demand.
   

4. Robert the Doll Movie Wraps Production (backtothemovies.com) — Key West’s famously haunted Robert the Doll, housed at Fort East Martello Museum, is inspiring a new horror reboot called “Robert Returns.” Filming has wrapped in the UK, and the movie reimagines the eerie toy that draws curious visitors to the island, with a planned US and UK release in early 2027.
