1. Major upgrades underway at Lakeland Linder as passenger demand grows (mynews13.com) — If you're flying out of Lakeland Linder, expect big changes soon as the city upgrades parking, expands the terminal, and improves runways to handle surging passenger demand from Avelo's new routes. Economy and overflow lots are shifting to paid parking by Oct. 1, while a new passenger holding area should start construction by late October without disrupting travelers.
   

2. Legal Notice: Proposed 26-032 (lakelandgov.net) — Lakeland officials are proposing an ordinance to expand red-light camera enforcement at high-risk intersections, and the City Commission will vote on it at the Oct. 5 meeting at City Hall. Residents can review the ordinance at the City Attorney's Office and speak at the 9 a.m. hearing, with ADA accommodations and language assistance available by advance request.
   

3. City Hall Scoop 9/21: Eye On Lakeland's Red-Light Cameras (lkldnow.com) — Lakeland city commissioners just expanded the city's red-light camera network to 27 locations and advanced an ordinance finalizing where each camera will go, with a key vote set for Oct. 5. They also approved a controversial rezoning on Pipkin Creek Road near the airport corridor and backed a county partnership to add lights for nighttime play at John McGee Park in South Lakeland.
   

4. Foot Chase Through Lakeland Home Depot Ends With K9 Bite (tampafp.com) — A Lakeland man with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested after leading Polk County deputies on a foot chase through the crowded Home Depot parking lot off Highway 98 North. Deputies released K9 Reno when he refused to stop, and the dog's bite helped bring him into custody before he was treated at a hospital and booked into jail.
   

5. For 15 Years New Beginnings High School Has Offered an Alternative Path to a Degree (lkldnow.com) — New Beginnings High School, which now includes a Lakeland campus, has spent 15 years helping Polk County students who struggled in traditional schools earn diplomas through flexible schedules, year-round classes, and intensive support. The charter serves many students with disabilities or housing instability, relies on creative funding, and is expanding high-tech career labs so graduates can step into better-paying local jobs.
