North Shore Park, home of Kids and Kubs, has become too warm to continue summer softball practice sessions as heat and humidity rise into the 90s by 10:00 AM each morning.
The club had previously reduced the summer ball sessions to 8:30–10:00 AM. However, the club’s membership is ages 75–96, and these sessions pose a danger due to dehydration and other factors that may cause problems for senior citizens over 75. Therefore, President Joe Hannah has called a recess for July and August, with sessions returning on September 1, 8:30 AM.
Club President Joe Hannah noted that the health and safety of club members is of the utmost concern. The club’s foundation is “age-appropriate exercise using the platform of slow-pitch softball.” Under current weather conditions, conducting summer ball sessions is not healthy for men and women over 75.
