• PUBLIC NOTICE - The Monroe County Housing Authority (MCHA) announces the opening of the Waitlist for Eastwind Apartments (keysnews.com) — Residents in Marathon can soon join the new Eastwind Apartments waitlist, with online applications opening Wednesday, April 22 at 9 a.m. The Monroe County Housing Authority will accept only electronic applications and keep the list open until the expected wait reaches 24 months. Income limits apply, and help is available by phone or at the Key West office kiosk.
   

• Ten-run first begins rout for Lady Fins (keysnews.com) — Marathon sports fans can celebrate a dominant win by the Lady Fins softball team, which erupted for 10 first-inning runs and beat Ransom Everglades 16-1 on the Middle Keys campus. Marathon High’s lineup delivered a barrage of extra-base hits and RBI singles, ending the game early by mercy rule and improving their season record to 9-4.
   

• Library expands book club program to youth (tncontentexchange.com) — Families in Marathon now have easier access to kid- and teen-focused book club kits through the Monroe County Public Library’s expanded “Book Club In A Bag” program. Each bag includes 10 copies of a title plus a discussion guide, can be requested online, and is shipped between branches, giving Marathon readers and homeschoolers more options for group reading all summer and beyond.
