Miami AI Search Study: 99.6% of Local Businesses Invisible to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

New research tested 515 Miami-Dade health, legal and real estate businesses on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini - nearly all were never named.

MIAMI BEACH, FL - When a Miami-Dade resident asks ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to recommend "the best dentist in Coral Gables" or "a real estate attorney in Miami," a new local study finds the AI almost always answers — it just usually doesn't answer with the business the person actually needed to find.

AEOGeoAI, a Miami Beach-based AI search research firm, tested 515 independent Miami-Dade businesses across health, legal, and real estate by asking the three major AI systems the exact questions local customers ask every day. The result: 99.6% of businesses tested were never named directly. Not because the AI didn't understand the question - it answered every time. It just named someone else.

Why is AI Search Failing to Answer?

"The AI isn't failing to answer," said a spokesperson for AEOGeoAI. "It's answering with the wrong business. It talks about the right category, sometimes even names three or four competitors - and just never says the name of the practice you're actually asking about."

The pattern held across all three industries tested, which the researchers say is the more surprising finding. Independent businesses were most often passed over in favor of large institutions: hospital systems like Cleveland Clinic Florida and Baptist Health South Florida in the health sector, major law firms like Greenberg Traurig in legal, and mega-developers like the Related Group in real estate - which alone was named in nearly 98% of all real estate-related responses collected in the study.

How Will This Affect Miami Businesses?

Local business owners may already sense the shift. As more Miami-Dade residents turn to AI chat tools instead of typing into Google, being left out of those answers means being left out of the conversation entirely — regardless of how well a business ranks in traditional search.
