• Avalon Beach, Pace fire districts brace for cuts after church fee exemption takes effect (weartv.com) — Pace’s fire district is preparing for budget cuts after new state legislation exempts churches from certain fire protection assessments, potentially affecting staffing and equipment. Leaders in both the Pace and Avalon Beach districts say they may delay purchases or even return a new engine, while stressing they’ve reached a compromise they believe protects both fire services and local churches. 
• Pace woman allegedly had children in vehicle during DUI arrest (srpressgazette.com) — A Pace woman faces DUI and felony child neglect charges after deputies say she was stopped on U.S. 90 with two children in her vehicle and showed signs of impairment. She was arrested following field sobriety exercises, the children were picked up by a concerned acquaintance, and she was later released from the Santa Rosa County Jail.
• Eastbound lanes of I-10 at Mile Marker 21 reopen after multi-vehicle crash in Santa Rosa (weartv.com) — Eastbound I-10 traffic near Avalon Boulevard is moving again after a four-vehicle crash that brought a response from Pace Fire-Rescue and other Santa Rosa County agencies. Six people were treated at the scene, and while their conditions haven’t been released, all eastbound lanes have reopened and officials say more details may follow.
