• Palmetto man found guilty in eighth DUI case after jury trial, prosecutors say (bradenton.com) — A longtime Palmetto resident has been convicted in Manatee County of felony DUI and related license offenses after deputies say they found him intoxicated behind the wheel in 2024. Jurors determined it was his eighth DUI conviction, and prosecutors are seeking a harsher sentence under Florida’s habitual offender law, with a prison term of up to 15 years possible at his August sentencing. 
• Housing assistance program in Manatee County expands to three new schools (mysuncoast.com) — Families in Palmetto can now access Turning Points’ housing assistance and support services at the Family Support Center behind Lincoln Memorial Middle School, even through summer. The Connected Manatee program has expanded to serve five Manatee County schools, helping working families with rental aid, benefits navigation, and referrals before a crisis hits.
