Officers used video and a license plate to identify and arrest a 78-year-old suspect, seize his firearm, and begin a risk protection order, while urging drivers to avoid confrontations and call police if threatened.

New police drone helps find missing autistic woman in Florida (tcpalm.com) — Port St. Lucie police just launched a new drone-as-first-responder program that’s already being credited with quickly finding a missing autistic woman before she reached a nearby canal. The test phase includes three drone docks now, with plans for six across the city, aiming to reach most emergency calls within about four minutes and give officers real-time video before they arrive.

Hundreds of fish found dead in Port St. Lucie community after city's algae treatment (wptv.com) — Hundreds of fish were found dead Thursday in Port St. Lucie’s Sawgrass Lakes community after the city hired a contractor to treat toxic algae earlier in the week. Crews are now removing fish and testing oxygen levels, while local and regional experts urge more natural, long-term fixes like aquatic vegetation, less fertilizer, and sediment removal.
4. ‘Shall not be infringed:' Florida HOA repeals new rule after pressure, AG says (clickorlando.com) — Residents in Port St. Lucie’s Tradition community will no longer face a blanket firearms ban in common areas after Florida’s attorney general pressured the HOA to repeal its new rule. State officials argued the policy conflicted with Florida law protecting lawful concealed carry, prompting the association to reverse course this week.
