• Community art contest open to teens, young adults (observernews.net) — Young artists in Ruskin and South Shore can enter a free coastal-themed art contest hosted by the GFWC Ruskin Woman’s Club, with entries due July 10. The top design becomes a mural at The Beach House on Shell Point Road, with cash prizes and a community celebration July 23. Teens can grab applications in person or online.
   

• Florida State offers 2028 in-state athlete (usatoday.com) — A standout Lennard High School athlete from Ruskin, Chayse Brown, just picked up a scholarship offer from Florida State after impressing at the Seminoles’ 7-on-7 camp.
